Birthday Carnival

Heritage Hall is 40 years old this year- so there are lots of celebrations for the whole family all year long. Most recently they held a carnival- games, animals, food, prizes for all students of the school. We took Lane, Lyric, and Colin for a while on Saturday. They all had a great time- Lane was not feeling great so we couldn't stay as long as we wanted- but it was fun while it lasted.....

A Day in the Park

We took the boys to play at the big park on Monday- knowing that it was going to get pretty chilly here for the rest of the week. We had a good time- here are some pictures....

My Umbrella

It is a rainy morning here today- and that makes it hard to get out of bed, get to work, and be productive. Lyric walks to his school from mine everyday- and lately he walks alone- with me watching in the background. Yesterday he was very clingy and needed me to walk with him. Today he wanted me to walk with him, too- but I couldn't due to the fact that my class had already started and I don't have my umbrella today. I told him I couldn't walk with him because it was raining and I didn't have an umbrella- he said "you can share mine". Very sweet- He has a little Sponge Bob umbrella that really won't cover my head- perfect for a preschooler, though.

Another Fast Weekend....

Weekends seem to go by so fast these days....well really...all days seem to go by fast. The boys get cuter and cuter with each passing week- Lane is so much fun- he has the neatest personality- he is so funny, smart, and daredevilish....a pretty entertaining combination. He does not use a lot of words, but he does use lots of sign language- which is adorable- He has started shaking his head vigoroously for no and nodding his head like a heavy metal banger for yes. I will try to get it on video and post it- it is hilarious.
Back to the weekend...Friday was low key- we loaded the boys and went for a bike ride over to Julie's and back. After that was dinner and just some tv. It was a good night. Saturday, Julie and I went to the farmer's market and sold shirts- we were successful- and next week we will have our own tent and table in the market instead of peddling out of the back of the van in the parking lot! Saturday afternoon was filled with football and food- Sunday was a lazy day- the boys helped me plant some pansies in the front flower bed.
Here are the only pictures I have from the weekend- not much to document, really....

The boys in the little Bike buggy- getting ready for the ride.....Lane's first time.

Hook 'Em....

We were pretty busy last week- we went to Grandaddy and MeMaw's for dinner on Thursday. Firday night was the art museum, and Saturday was FOOTBALL. So- here are some pictures from the fun:

Lyric being silly at G-daddy's

Lane chowin' down on spaghetti

Lane and Uncle Kyle- looks like mischief

Driving to the game...horns and all

Lyric making a big play- nana is there getting it on film, too.

My 2 little Longhorns- Lane says "thanks for the shirt, Porter!"

Lane trying on Rick's glasses- what a smile!

My little houdini- he got one of his car seat arm straps off- after that, he got his whole arm out of his sleeve and through the neck of his shirt....he is still pretty, though.....

Self Portraits?

Lyric loves to get the camera and take pictures of stuff- Usually he takes pictures of random things- but these are of himself- totally cute. We were driving over the Grandaddy's for dinner- he got the camera and went to work.

Night at the Museum

Last weekend, Jan and Rick came to town and we took them to the rooftop of the OKC Museum of Art. It was a beautiful evening- we had cocktails and took in the views, sounds, and conversation....

This was a real man- all dressed as a Roman Art figure- he would move intermittently just enough to scare passers by. He was really good!

View to the North from the rooftop

View towards downtown- you can see the Ford Center in the back....

Words cannot describe....

how proud the entire family is of Justin. He was serving his 4th tour in Iraq when he was called home to tend to his dad and our Uncle Billy. We are still waiting to hear whether Justin will have to return to Iraq or if he will be allowed to return to Colorado Springs instead. I think you can assume where we all want him to be!
Say a prayer for justin- and all the men and women serving in the Middle East. They need it- and have not been in the news much lately with all the election and AIG stuff going on here.
We are all proud to call Justin family- he has made many sacrifices for us...Thank You!

Justin is so young- soon to be 27- look at how decorated he is- just amazing!

I wanted a picture of his uniform- Lyric snuck in the shot at the last second-

Fall is Here.....

I took out my summer flowers yesterday and planted a few fall foliage items near the front porch. Both boys wanted to help water in the plants- It was pretty chilly yesterday- about 70 with a strong north wind- so it really felt much cooler- it is so nice- Lyric rides his scooter up and down the sidewalk- but Lane wants to follow his bubba everywhere....so he takes off after Lyric now. We just need to get Lane a little scooter he can ride.
I have a few fall decorations out- not too many because Lane the destroyer will be sure to find a way to get his hands on them. I have a little ring of beads with a ceramic pumpkin candy dish in the center of the counter height dining table. Well- first let me say that the restaurant is almost always closed- or that is the appearance due to the fact that the chairs have to be placed seat down on top of the dining table. I have had to take all the candy out of my little fall-ish ceramic pumpkin candy dish because little hands kept getting into it and leaving peanut butter m&m streaks all over the house. By the way- the chairs on the table thing is almost obsolete as Lane pulled one of the chairs down the other night- I think it scared him pretty good, though- so we may have bought a few more weeks due to the fright factor.
Anyway- the bead ring thing surrounding the pumpkin- Lane climbed onto the table while we were eating dinner last night- he loves hats- especially Jason's ball cap. He was playing with that, then discovered the sparkly orange and green beads that had been under his nose the entire time. He started putting the bead ring on his head- he looked like a little autumn princess. Totally cute.
This morning- he was playing around with Lyric's football helmet. It is so big on him to begin with- but Lane is very unconventional and likes to do things his own way- so he puts the helmet on backwards- he cannot see out since there are no eye holes in the back of the helmet- so he just wanders around bumping into things...walls, dishwasher, kitchen island- but hey- he's safe- he is wearing a helmet after all!

Watering the plants

Still watering

Lyric is way ahead on the scooter- Lane is following him and Jason is following Lane

Autumn princess....how sweet....This is a close as Granny will get to a granddaughter- but she doesn't mind....it makes it a little easier with babies this pretty....

lane having a BLAST in the bath!

This morning- 7:00- football helmet fun before school

It just is so cute- you need to come see for yourself- in person!

Adorable....

Lyric

Lyric has started walking the short sidewalk distance to his school from mine by himself. Today was the 3rd time for him to make the trek alone. It was slightly misting this morning, so he had his jacket on, his hood up, and was holding his Spongebob umbrella. He looks back to me about every 10 steps to make sure I am still there- he gives me a smile and a wave and continues on....10 more steps...10 more steps....10 more steps.....yes- I am still there each time he turns around- watching- smiling, and waving, too-

Wagon Ride

Lyric and Lane were playing with a little wagon last night. First, both boys were in- then, Lane got out and decided he wanted to pull Lyric down the hallway. Lyric also pulled Lane, too- but he also tumped him out head first onto the tile floor- that is when the fun ended.

All aboard!!

Lane playing with "bub-ba"- he can say that now......

Having fun....What do you think of the paint color? :)

Lyric's turn- just before the tump....
