Pops on Route 66

We took the boys to POPS last night for $2 burgers. We love going out there- it is always delicious and the kids LOVE to choose their own bottle of pop....My mom and sister went with us as did Colin. It was a great little family outing. I will need to walk/jog extra today to make up for the indulgences- but it is worth it!

Look real close and you can see Lyric and Colin in front of the big pop bottle

Back by Popular Demand

It has been a VERY long time since I have been here- I only have a couple of things to load right now- we will try to keep up for the holiday activities and other happenings around our little part of the world.
Halloween was last weekend- lane is not quite ready for the hype- he did not like the costumes and scary noises. In fact he didn't even like the candy that much- he liked opening the wrappers but not eating the goodies...
Colin came over to trick or treat with Lyric...they went around our neighborhood and got just enough candy. That night we also had some people over to watch the OSU/TX game. It was a great night- looking forward now to Thanksgiving!! We love the fall!

Seriously, People...

We have been busy to say the least....here are some photos to show what we have been doing- school starts tomorrow- so I will be sure to get back on the blog-track!

The beginning of this month we went to Dallas and Austin to visit friends and do a little school shopping- We took Colin with us so he could have some fun with Lyric and so his parents could enjoy some time alone...We stayed with my mom's great friend, Cindy a couple of nights- she had a great home and a pool that the kids just had a blast in. Lyric was all over that pool- swimming everywhere (in his life jacket)...now to just get him swimming away from the ladder in the lake...he is getting there.
We had lunch with the Shackelfords in Keller- the last time I saw them I was pregnant with Lane- so our visit was long overdue...looking forward to getting back down there for another (adult) visit soon!

Eskimo Joe's Adventure

We took Lyric to Stillwater on Monday evening for diner and then headed to Carl Blackwell for some fishing. Kyle, Sabra, and Colin met us for the fun. Dinner was good- kind of weird eating at Joe's with my 5 year old son...we called Shannon in Austin and waved to her through the Joe's webcam. That was pretty cool since we were on the phone together and she could see us having dinner.
Fishing was fun for me and Sabra, we caught about 9 little fish...the boys didn't even have a nibble.
It was a fun night and we look forward to doing it again soon- the lake was only about 45 minutes away from our house- so it is a great place to go for a day or evening.

Pools, Lakes, and Kids

Summer is in full swing and the next few pictures really show it...we have been to the pool, we have been to the lake, we have been trying to fill our days with all things summer- and are having a good time, too! Lyric's t-ball team had a swim party to mark the end of the season- he even got a little trophy. (Say a prayer for his coach- a family man that was deployed to Iraq for hte first time last week)
We went to Arcadia with Julie (BFF) and her kiddos for a little tubing adventure- and an adventure it was!
We also went to the Edmond pool- had a blast there as well....

Camping in a Hair Dryer

We took the boys to Ponca City and Kaw Lake. It was pretty much the hottest part of June- and the summer this far. We arrived around 5pm on a Wednesday and got out on the lake. It was really beautiful and there were only about 4 boats out there with us. We rode around..had some snacks and watched the sun go down. At dusk we set up camp and roasted hot dogs...tried some smores- but the kids didn't like them so much. There were June bugs EVERYWHERE and I swear it was still 98 degrees at 11pm. We made it through the night- no bug bites and even got a little sleep. We made sure to put our trash and groceries in the Jeep in case there might have been some uninvited guests at our campsite. Sure enough..when we woke up- raccoons had opened up our plastic tote and ate a bag of puffy cheetos and left a few paw prints on our white table cloth. After we broke down our tent and packed up our gear- we headed back on the lake for a few hours in the morning. We had a good time.
On the trip home we had an (unexpected) blow out on I-35. It took 2 and 1/2 hours to change the tire on the trailer- the temperature gauge in the Jeep read 109 at times- so freaking hot. Thank goodness for the portable DVD player from Granny- the boys were in the car for almost 6 hours that day- and only began fighting 10 minutes from our house.
Home safe and lesson learned- I am not a happy camper. Hotel rooms and in-ground pools suit me best.

I have been out of the posting loop for a while- so I have a lot of catching up to do- Here are a bunch of pictures of our summer adventures thus far...I will try to keep up with the posts from this point forward...really...I will.

Big Red and Long Blue

We spent Saturday at the lake in Skiatook with most of the family. The lake was a little crowded with other boaters- but it was a gorgeous day to be there. The water was cool, and pretty clear, the kids were having a blast, and Jason even got up and slalomed. Here are a few pictures of our adventure....

Here's the boat- Lyric was asked what he wanted to name it and he said "Big Red"...he was asked what he wanted to name Mike's boat- and he said "Long Blue"

T-ball and Such

Saturday morning was t-ball...Lyric was on the pitcher's mound for a bit. After the game we went and got supplies for our first boat outing. Had a few technical difficulties on the water, but Jason worked them all out. We took the boat out again Sunday and it ran great. After boating on Sunday we went to my mom and dad's for burgers. The boat is parked in our garage thanks to Jason and his hard work. Looking forward to a great summer on the water!

Here's the boat...

WOW!

So...my actual birthday was cool- we bought a boat...the Friday after my birthday was awesome- a few friends drove in from Tulsa- We met in Bricktown and had dinner at Bolero- a really great place. The chef (Vinny) came out and met me...then went to the kitchen and made me the most amazing plate of food...JUST FOR ME...my pictures do not do it justice- We also had a few other of their Tapas offerings. After dinner chef V brought out the most amazing cake....my sister made it for me- I wish you could taste this amazing chocolate goodness- it was beautiful- brought tears to my eyes- just because she went to so much effort to make such a wonderful gift for me.
After dinner, we all headed to Mickey Mantles- had a glass of bubbly...then upstairs to the Skyy Bar- where I was much too old to be out that late.
It was a super night- so happy to have such wonderful people around me.

Stock up on Sunscreen

Yesterday was my birthday...we were going to go out for a nice dinner- just the 2 of us on a pretty patio somewhere...but then we found it...a special deal that was just meant for our little family....so...no birthday dinner with hubby- but I am just fine with it.

Lyric behind the wheel of our "new" boat.

Both boys checking it out....

lane having a try...

We will take it out this weekend- looking forward to having a lot of fun with it. So...this means I have traded by beach dreams for the possibility of camping (yes..in a tent...) But that is OK- it is going to be so much fun!

Picnic at the Lake

Sunday we took the boys to Lake Hefner and had a little picnic. We also tried to fly a couple of kites- it was pretty breezy near the water. What a great spot we have found close to home for some quality (free) family time. Jenny met us there and played some football with the kids. It was really a very nice evening.

Flying his Transformers kite.

Does he even know what this means? Still cute...

Lyric is 5

Wow- can you believe that Lyric just turned 5 years old? We had a great party at our house before school was out and celebrated his actual birthday in Tulsa with the family. Lyric's favorite present was his new bike- he kept asking us to take off the training wheels, but we are just not ready for that yet. Looking forward to a lot of fun this summer riding bikes and playing outside.

School's Out!

Lyric had his school's end of year party...it was a beach party. What a great way to end the school year! Thursday I took the boys to see a baseball game- Texas vs kansas- Big 12 tournament. Jenn gave us some great tickets- we had a really nice time.
