Florida part 1

OK- I have a little more time, now, so here are a few more photos from our travels so far. The plane ride was very easy- Lyric really did well. On the flight from Houston to Ft. Lauderdale, the Captain let Lyric and Ian sit in the cockpit and allowed us to take pictures- how amazing is that! Once in Ft. Lauderdale, we checked into our hotel(Embassy Suites) and tried to settle down enough to get some sleep. The next day (Thursday) we got up and headed to Key West. It took us about 4 hours- the speed limit is no greater than 50mph on a 2 lane road with police cars everywhere. So...we enjoyed the scenery and the ride.
We checked into our hotel- the doubletree, and then set out to take a few pictures and get some dinner. That night, the kids went swimming in the awesome pool at the hotel. On Friday, we were up bright and early for our trip on the fast cat to Dry Tortugas. Wow- what a journey- the boat ride was just over 2 hours each way- no bathrooms, other than what was on the boat, no running water, just the fort and a campground. We found some cool sea creatures including a huge conch. Back at the hotel, Lyric used the bathroom and was so excited when he came out of the water closet- he said "Guess what! I just made a conch poop!" Seriously- I guess his poop was shaped somewhat like a conch shell- it was pretty funny!
The ride home from the fort was pretty rough, several people became seasick- and we were sitting in the back of the boat outside- so needless to say, we were puked on a few times. It was disgusting- but thank goodness for Dramamine- no one in our party got sick. On our way back to the hotel, we ordered some pizza to be delivered to our room and headed for the hotel pool.
Saturday- it rained most of the day- we drove to the house in Marathon, which is where we will be staying for the rest of the trip. When we arrived, we just went grocery shopping, ate sandwiches, and hung out in the pool.
I will try to post more tomorrow- we are scheduled to go swim with dolphins at the Dolphin Research Center in the morning.

Relay for Life

In May, we participated in the ACS Relay for Life. I have some pictures for you to see. We raised about $500 thanks to supporters like Lynda's Birkenstock, Granddaddy and Carol, and Granny and Pa. We added the names of people we were walking for to our t-shirts and made a little advertisement onesie for Baby Lane. It was a really great event and we will definitely be participating again next year.

Lyric's Birthday

We had a super fun rock star party for Lyric's 4th birthday. Jason build a stage for the kids to play like they were in a band. It was such a hit. We got Lyric his very own mini Fender Stratocaster and mini Marshall amp- he wasn't too sure what to think about it all. All the kids had a lot of fun singing into the hot microphones and playing drums on the mini drum set. We had a pinata filled with fruit snacks and candy and lots of cookies and cupcakes. Maybe next year we will have Lyric's first cd release party....
:)

kids

Julie and her family came for dinner- after we ate, they kids had popsicles- they all migrated to and landed on the swingset- it was really cute- until I tried taking their picture- then they all started posing and acting goofy. Lane on the other hand was busy going on one of his many adventures in the little tykes car- we were given that big piece of plastic by the Gotcher family (neighbors in Broken Arrow). Both Lyric and Lane have had so much fun with that car- even Colin and Evan like to play with it- and they are 5 and 7.

Play Ball!!

We took the boys to the OU OSU baseball game in Bricktown. We learned that a baseball game is not one of the top 100 activities for a 1 year old. He did have fun- but he was hard to contain. Lyric and Colin had an absolute blast- we can't wait to take them to another game- they danced to all the music, tried to catch foul balls, ate hot dogs and just had an All-American great day....

Pa and Granny's visit

Granny and Pa came down for a short visit while Jason and I were celebrating Julie's graduation. They played with the boys and soaked up their sugar......Lane and Granny were swinging- and he just about fell asleep in her arms....Lyric and Pa played a little baseball- I think they all had a great day.

Baby Lane's Birthday

We celebrated baby's 1st birthday on Mother's Day in Tulsa. We had so much fun at Granny's house- he got lots of presents and of course, got to eat his very own b-day cake. I can't believe that he is already 1- time really flies- don't you wish the time still went as slowly as it used to- like when you were a kid on Christmas Eve- it took at least 2 weeks for that one night to pass and give rise to Christmas Day.....or like when you were in school and couldn't wait for summer to arrive- August to May felt like years.....if only it was still like that-

Presents for Lane!!

What a wonderful gift!

Some misc pics

Here are a few pictures that I can't really categorize. A cutie of baby Lane having his morning milk before school- Dad with Lane at aunt Tommye's in Cushing- Fun at Courtney's house at the sand table- Lyric and Colin enjoying corn dogs and curly fries in the back yard at the picnic table- just a few of the things we do around these parts.....

Art Festival

Granny came to town not too long ago and we went to the Art Festival in Edmond- it was pretty chilly out but still a nice morning. Jason and Lyric went down a huge inflatable slide while me and baby Lane watched....Lyric also got to climb on a real train- not sure if that was really allowed, but we did it anyway.

Fun on the Mac

Mike would kill me if he saw this, but he doesn't even know how to get to my blog....so enjoy.....

89ers Day

Every year, Guthrie has an 89ers day celebration to commemorate the land run of 1889- you know, where sooners and boomers lined up and raced to take over land that belonged to the Indians. Anyway- the parade was a blast- we met Jason and Meredith in downtown Guthrie where we had awesome, front-row seats to an hour long display of firetrucks, police officers, horses, fancy old-time cars, and shriners. Lyric caught lots of candy from people in the parade tossing it to the children watching from the sidewalks.
