Eskimo Joe's Adventure

We took Lyric to Stillwater on Monday evening for diner and then headed to Carl Blackwell for some fishing. Kyle, Sabra, and Colin met us for the fun. Dinner was good- kind of weird eating at Joe's with my 5 year old son...we called Shannon in Austin and waved to her through the Joe's webcam. That was pretty cool since we were on the phone together and she could see us having dinner.
Fishing was fun for me and Sabra, we caught about 9 little fish...the boys didn't even have a nibble.
It was a fun night and we look forward to doing it again soon- the lake was only about 45 minutes away from our house- so it is a great place to go for a day or evening.

Pools, Lakes, and Kids

Summer is in full swing and the next few pictures really show it...we have been to the pool, we have been to the lake, we have been trying to fill our days with all things summer- and are having a good time, too! Lyric's t-ball team had a swim party to mark the end of the season- he even got a little trophy. (Say a prayer for his coach- a family man that was deployed to Iraq for hte first time last week)
We went to Arcadia with Julie (BFF) and her kiddos for a little tubing adventure- and an adventure it was!
We also went to the Edmond pool- had a blast there as well....

Camping in a Hair Dryer

We took the boys to Ponca City and Kaw Lake. It was pretty much the hottest part of June- and the summer this far. We arrived around 5pm on a Wednesday and got out on the lake. It was really beautiful and there were only about 4 boats out there with us. We rode around..had some snacks and watched the sun go down. At dusk we set up camp and roasted hot dogs...tried some smores- but the kids didn't like them so much. There were June bugs EVERYWHERE and I swear it was still 98 degrees at 11pm. We made it through the night- no bug bites and even got a little sleep. We made sure to put our trash and groceries in the Jeep in case there might have been some uninvited guests at our campsite. Sure enough..when we woke up- raccoons had opened up our plastic tote and ate a bag of puffy cheetos and left a few paw prints on our white table cloth. After we broke down our tent and packed up our gear- we headed back on the lake for a few hours in the morning. We had a good time.
On the trip home we had an (unexpected) blow out on I-35. It took 2 and 1/2 hours to change the tire on the trailer- the temperature gauge in the Jeep read 109 at times- so freaking hot. Thank goodness for the portable DVD player from Granny- the boys were in the car for almost 6 hours that day- and only began fighting 10 minutes from our house.
Home safe and lesson learned- I am not a happy camper. Hotel rooms and in-ground pools suit me best.
